What we collect and why
- Location. Your start point when you plan a route, and your position when you check in at a stop, to confirm you are inside its check-in zone (150 m for landmarks and parks, 50 m elsewhere). During a trip you start, the iPhone app uses location in the background only to tell you when you reach a stop; those positions stay on your phone.
- Nickname and colour. The name and colour you pick are what friends, trip-mates and the public leaderboard see. Your email and real name are never shown to other people.
- Friends. People you add with your friend code or QR can see your passport: stamps, province map, level and photos you haven't hidden.
- Leaderboard. The all-time leaderboard shows your nickname, colour, level, XP, stamp and province counts, never photos. You can hide yourself in Friends → Leaderboard.
- Ride along. While a trip you started or joined is running (12 hours at most), your position is shared only with the people on that trip. It is deleted when the trip ends or you leave it.
- Photo at check-in. One photo per check-in, of anything you like (you, the view, the food). We don't analyse faces or run face recognition. Your photos make up your passport album. Only you, your friends and people on a ride-along trip with you (for photos taken during that trip) can see them. They're kept until you hide them, delete them or delete your account; hidden photos are visible to no one but you. Photos from rejected check-ins are deleted after 30 days.
- Account. A random ID for guests. If you sign in, your email address and which sign-in you used (Apple, Google or email).
- Check-ins, stamps, coupons and routes you make in the app.
- Purchases. If you buy Giggles Plus, the payment is handled by Apple or Stripe. We store only the subscription's ID, dates and status, never card details.
- App integrity. The iPhone app sends an Apple App Attest signature with check-ins so we can tell real devices from fake ones. It doesn't identify you.
What we don't do
- No advertising tracking and no selling of personal data.
- Partner shops see how many verified visits they received, never who visited.
Where it is stored
Data is stored with Supabase (servers in Singapore). Payments go through Apple and Stripe under their own privacy policies.
Your choices
- Delete your account at any time in the app: Passport → Delete my account. This removes your account, check-ins, stamps, coins and photos. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke the app's access to your Apple ID.
- You can turn off location, camera and notifications in your phone's settings; check-in needs location and a photo.
We follow Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). To ask for a copy of your data or a correction, email us.
